The answer is this… Change will happen in the enterprise environment when it is essentially proven that a new technology provides a competitive advantage that can be neither refuted, nor ignored. The increamental utility has to be equated in dollars as a gain that exceeds cost of capital. Otherwise ‘change’ is an investment that fails to provide required return on capital or equity or whatever metric is preferred.
Tech enthusiasts often dont care much for the enconomic considerations. Advancement for the purpose of advancement, and constant inovation is prioritized. So as an enthusiast, I do understand the frustration though.
Email isnt broken. From what perspective are you speaking anyway though? In the beginning it appears to be the consummer view, and in the end an enterprise view? What could possibily be done to evolve email that provides so much more increamental value that the game changes? I think youre full of bs.
