I agree that this controversy is overblown, but only because the nature of the tech and the things they have put in place have made it so taking a picture or video is probably obvious enough. I could be missing a detail though. My point is that people aren’t crazy in wanting Google to put things in place like speaker sounds when a picture is taken. This lessons the likelihood of the average person being able to do something unsavory. As a result there will be an even smaller group of people who will abuse the tech or go out and purchase spy gear. We don’t create laws thinking every single person will follow them. We create them if we have good reason to think they will have an impact.
Promises, Promises, Promises. I imagine like Bush (and seemingly every president) doing “what it takes” to take down whatever spectre no matter how big a threat becomes seductive.
Maybe you haven’t been paying attention, but yes a few have been falsely imprisoned. This point is unnecessary though unless you think the right to a fair and speedy trial is BS. We grant this right for the worst of the worst in this country. Mass murderers, child rapists etc. I don’t know what makes these people any different.
