Whatsapp isn’t truly cross platform. It supports zero desktop and tablet operating systems. I’m not interested in using it until it allows me to message from any of my devices.

And because it uses your phone number you can’t use whatsapp on any other device but your phone making it’s funtionality extremely limited compared to Hangouts, iMessage and Facebook messanger

Yes it’s definitely possible to get buy a phone at contract price and then immediatly sell it for over $600 like this It, however, is not possible to activate an unlocked phone like the Nexus 4 or stock android GS4 with Verizon. Those phones will only work with T-mobile and AT&T in the U.S.

Google doesn’t seem to care to much about ecosystem plays on iOS consider the amount apps they’ve made for the iPhone. If they were concerned about using exclusive software to attract people to their ecosystem I don’t think they would have ported maps, gmail and google now to iOS.

On those carriers the smart thing to do is buy a phone on contract with high resale value, like an iPhone 5 and then sell it and and buy the GS4Nexus for a net cost of around $250.

This will work, I’ve done it. Order the phone on your dad’s line; do not do a buddy upgrade where you use his upgrade but apply it to your line. Now you need a micro sim with your phone number attached to it (your iPhone 5 nano sim won’t fit) You can get a 4G micro sim at a Verizon store or you can call them and have them ship you one. You do not need to activate the phone on your dad’s number before you can use it. When you get it do not turn it on until you have taken the sim card it shipped with out and put yours in. That’s it. The phone will activate on your line without changing your plan whatsoever

Google hasn’t integrated SMS with Hangouts, either because Google doesn’t want to annoy carriers or simply because it hasn’t gotten around to it yet.
I don’t care why Google didn’t integrate SMS, they should not have launched this product without it.

I have an 8X on Verizon and while I don’t think Nokia bested HTC’s 8X design with the 928 (but they blew it away with the 925) I would buy the 928 is I was you just for the camera and the 32GB of storage.
Comment
Am I the only here that thinks the 925 looks like a huge step up in design compared to the 920 and 928? I’d put it right next to the One as the best looking phone on the market.

Because on the 16GB version if I install Nova 3, Modern Combat 4, The Dark Knight Rises, Asphalt 7 and Real Racing 2 I’ve just maxed out my internal storage and can no longer install any apps. Also I like syncing some of my Google play cloud music to the phone’s storage and it’s not possible to save that on an sd card.

You’re crazy if you think this phone being priced at $400 would be high. The only phone with specs comparable to this priced lower is the Nexus 4 and that lacks LTE and an SD slot which this has.
