Yup. It’s exactly what E-Verify already does. Except for the whole Drivers License bit. Right now only a couple of states participate in the license bit of E-Verify and out of those only one on the photo part. Look for a few things to happen over the next 5 years. E-Verify will become mandatory instead of voluntary, databases like the one proposed will pull all identification types into them instead of voluntary state participation like now. The Form I-9 will go away when E-Verify becomes mandatory. I know a lot of people were hoping that would happen instead of the new form being released in March.
