The way it was worded sounded like he was doing 150 on his phone and 200+ on his landline.
I have no problem with that whatsoever. I imagine I blow threw some significant data on my cable too.
I really wasn’t trying to be an ass but there are people, and a lot of them, that use their cell as their primary internet source with tethering, torrents and all.
Caps arent the only issue either. If someone in my area is blowing up 500gb a month on their smartphone, theres a less than 0 chance it’ll affect my service. That’s not cool. Mobile devices should be used as supplemental connectivity, not a means to cancel your Road Runner service, in my humble opinion.

That’s what I’m trying to get at though. Had the cop not found the need to shut off recordings then it wouldn’t have appeared nearly as bad. Only those guilty or feel guilt think there’s a need to hide their actions.

The point of this post isn’t about what happened to the girl. The point of this post is the police taking it upon themselves to strip non-crime committing citizens of their rights.
The girl bleeding on the ground with tons of cops surrounding her, well, that’s just icing on the cake. If you watch, there’s a cop with an automatic weapon drawn in a crowded area. A lot of the cops had batons drawn and the man screaming that it was fucking ridiculous indicates excessive force was taken. Regardless, the cops thought the situation was bad enough that they need stop citizens from filming it.
Follow some of the related videos around on youtube and you’ll see this problem is rampant. The last thing cops want is another Rodney King incident and they now have the umbrella of protecting us from “terrorism” to hide under.

And you are the reason why they are capping data, or at least their excuse. Thanks for that.

Chrome only does it on some sites (ironically, github is one), generally when flash is required. Unfortunately it’s sticky so closing the site does not always kill the offending process (you can kill the specific process and the browser still functions).
Other offenders: Read-it Later (although I’ve heard it has been fixed), Evernote, and a few others that I can’t recall off the top of my head.
There is definitely a shared/common library that spins up the dedicated GPU and I wish developers would pay attention to it. Killing Sparrow nearly doubles my battery life.
More users need to run gfxCardStatus and become conscientious of these offending apps. If more people protested the problem would become far less rampant. Apps that you would never imagine needing the GPU horsepower are major offenders. Take Twitter for instance. It’s nothing more than a text messaging platform FFS.

Does it still require my discrete graphics card to run? If so it’ll continue to sit in my apps folder unused. Unnecessary burning of my battery life == no thanks.

Oh, and that’s a single person’s income, btw. These numbers are significantly lower for a married couple filing jointly.
Oh, and while I am on my soapbox, the whole “small businesses fall into the 250,000 – 400,000 category” rhetoric is complete BS too, btw. If you are a small business thats DBA under your own SSN, you have 0 employees and are banking 250,000-400,000 profit, then you are a complete idiot that does not deserve to operate a business.

Sigh. Taxes are collected on a sliding scale and no one seems to get this.
I’m only going to use today’s tax numbers because I’m too lazy to look up what it was back then.
Let’s say you make $500,000.
From $0 – $8,700 you pay 0% = $0.00
From $8,701 to $35,350 you pay 15% = $3997.5
From $35,351 – $85,650 you pay 25% of that = $20525
From $85,651 – $178,650 you pay 28% of that = $26039.72
$178,651 – $388,350 you pay 33% of that = $69200.67
$388,351 – $500,000 you pay 35% of that = 39077.15
so a grand total of $158,840.04 before deductions
Even if the tax percentage was bracketed up to 85%, it would be impossible to actually achieve 85% unless the person was making billions upon billions upon billions of dollars a week and you converged somewhere close to 85%

Nope. As soon as they finished copying being inspired by bing’s image search they moved on to the previews. It was a rather pathetic and rushed job at first too (as was the image search enhancement).

Also, if they offer this when the new xbox drops, I promise you there will be a huge surge in people opting for the plan vs paying outright. Even after MS/Sony take their loss, new-to-market consoles are always crazy expensive.

It’s the Tivo business model.. I own 2 TiVo Premieres and would love nothing else but to get rid of them. Unfortunately on 1 year contracts, sigh.
Anyway, I wonder if they are going to offer some sort of upgrade path for subscribers to this plan. It could make the choice pretty appealing to newcomers.
