Fair number of critics = fair number of trolls.
It’s somewhat illuminating to see these people, removed from any sort of iOS vs Android or other fanboy battle, provided them with a discussion topic such as this. They seem unable to fathom the purpose of it, and just vomit out comments like “what a bunch of pseudo intellectual horse crap,” fully knowing that Paul Miller can’t hear them. It makes as an effective shield to hide behind as anonymity.

Basic smart quote support when composing (ex: quotes become smart quotes, … becomes an ellipsis, and — becomes an em dash)
Wow, I thought top tweets in searches would be my most favorite new feature, but this is even better.

The Facebook app itself is a joke in performance and polish compared to this. Not sure how the Photos team is more competent than the team that’s supposed to be working on mobile.

I’d recommend a change to that blockquote formatting guys—all-caps italic Helvetica with minimal letter spacing is hard on the eyes.

Best Buy has those same warehouses.
But because Amazon’s warehousing system is larger, and handles other product industries, it can benefit from economies of scale.

When I worked at Best Buy I already knew a ton of info about the products I was selling, out of personal interest, and I was subscribing to sites like Engadget to stay up to date. It felt like my purpose at my store was to make sure customers who came in to buy something knew exactly what they needed to know about that specific product and how they would personally use it at home. I corrected customers’ misconceptions a lot.
Unfortunately that purpose didn’t line up exactly with “sell whatever as long as you attach everything they offer,” so I left.
The major issue with training their employees is that the materials offered were filtered down to “Here’s what a MP3 player does and here’s how to attach a protection plan!” Compare that with surfing The Verge and tell me which method makes you more knowledgeable.

Actually, selling stupid high-margin crap like Monster, as well as protection plans, magazine subscriptions, credit card signups, etc., is their easy way of staying profitable. It’s just that all the other stuff—computers, televisions—stopped having margins period.
And unlike Amazon who would have the same issues, Best Buy has a ton of overhead expenses because brick & mortar.
