Well, I guess I’ll have to agree, I’m okay with some of the Icons.
And it’s actually not the gradients I hate, the gradients aren’t the biggest problem.
But take the App Store, iTunes or Music Icon for example, I’m aware that they were created using a grid system, but still, the elements (esp. the circles around App Store and iTunes) are just waaay too big, have too little room which makes the icons look clumsy.
And then there’s that Game Center Icon, still totally sticking out from the whole rest of the design language used…
Maybe, maybe I’ll be a perfectly happy fanboy by the time I get my hands on it but for now, I am disappoint.
Hey, at least now (hopefully) we’ll get te chance to thrash all the stock apps in one single folder. ;)
Seriously, I like the UI, it’s just these icons. You’d think that a design centric Company like Apple would take ONE single look at dribbble or the like to figure out how to pull off "flat"… seeiously, what the hell, Ive?

I don’t know what it is about Videogame consoles, but they have always been ugly.
In this light, I find the XBox One to be fairly inoffensive. Not especially good looking, just less ugly than the 360.
I agree with you. The end of that ad was kind of cute but other than that, just as you said, stock-like images that have no power at all. Oh and way too prominent music, so annoying!
Photos- and Music Every Day are some of the best produced TV-ads I’ve seen in some time. But you expect nothing less from Apple, right?
They kind of remind me of the Asics Commercials from some years ago
The only thing weird with the Music ad is the voicover at the end. I don’t really know about that.
