So what would be appropriate to do if you get an emergency call on someone pointing a gun on other people and threatening to shoot them? Ask them to verify it with a video?

Also it doesn’t make any difference if you are sending 10 police men or a SWAT team if both are thinking of you as a serious thread. The only thing that would make difference in this situation was if you don’t own a shotgun… I mean walking in front of a SWAT team with a shotgun in your arms would be the least intelligent thing to do, but since it isn’t very smart to give everyone the right to own guns in the first place I guess that’s one risk you have to take…

No its not. If you speak of technology then there is only a quantitative side to it and the iPhone clearly lacks in this department. It has no NFC, no Wireless Charging, less RAM, less CPU-Cores, a lower Pixel Density … than other top tier phones right now. So technologically it is falling behind.

On a more subjective level you can value those thinks differently and conclude that the iPhone might integrate Hardware and Software better than others do but that wasn’t his point I guess. To me the specs don’t matter that much (I own a Nexus 4), but iOS really feels dated now.

Yeah, because a really dark black is more important for reading on your phone’s screen when outisde than a brighter more readable screen! /s

Seriously, my girlfirend did own a SIII last year and while she was happy with the display indoors because of its over-the-top colors it was a pain to use while being outside. My Nexus 4 (IPS-LCD) is way better. IMO in both situations because it produces more natural colors. …and don’t get me started on PerTile;-)

Cases are being made by the devil! Seriously, I don’t get why people are bying great looking phones only to put a case around… I have owned an iPhone 4 for 2.5 years without a case and own a Nexus 4 right now – they both are pretty without a case!

Does The Verge really have to photoshop their review pictures? Look at the one where the S4 is being held in one hand… Ridiculous!

BTW: I am not at all a fan of Samsung and didn’t like their phones in the past 4-5 years, but the S4 for me looks more pleasant than the One. The One really looks too restless in terms of design because of all the gaps and lines and differnet materials/colors. If only Samsung would use higher grade materials for the case and put less of that Touchwiz stuff onto the phone.

Ofcourse I have this choice and this isn’t killing me – still I would love to see more tech-related articles instead of “news”-stories that could very well be posted on something like nyt.com or spiegel.de. I chose to click on this article to be able to post my comment where it could be heard…

I get why The Verge was covering all the media/technology related stuff regarding the bombings, like the twitter news storm or the Reddit mob, but isn’t this sort of news a little too far away from technology?
I have a donzen “standard news outlets” I can go to to read a ton of coverage on this story, but I come here to read some news about technology and stuff… Same with the science section – is there really so little going on in tech right now?

PS: I don’t want to downplay the importance of this news – I just think it doesn’t belong here…

Hi,

generally I think questioning the authors motivation to do something as a reply isn’t the most helpful thing, but I get what you mean. As written above, I tried GT5 a long time ago and sold it pretty quickly – now it’s time for a more casual take on games and I would try more games in the future if I can succesfully get this setup working.

Sounds kind of silly that you need to wipe your phone in order to be able to make a back up… Besides photos there is not much else on my phone so I guess it’s not too much a pain in the butt for me. Will try out Titanium Backup afterwards.

Yeah, I have read about it and listened to some podcasts were this was being discussed. I don’t plan on spending any money on this game yet and can totally live with the pauses forced on you when upgrading your car.
I do have a PS3 (that’s where the controller comes from) and did play GT5 when it launched but got bored of it quickly and very annoyed by the menu structure. It took me ages to click through the menues. Also I am more of a casual gamer (even though I love good graphics) and don’t want to wait for ages only to play for 20min… The only game I play on my PS3 from time to time is Uncharted 3’s Multiplayer and even then it’s like 1 out of 3 times I have to upgrade my console first and then occasionally the game itself as well – very annoying, too.
