Good effort, but as someone who has been on WP for almost 2 years, I’ve heard this story a million times before.
Its just not happening, and will never happen for WP in the US.
Similar to how Windows just owns the PC Market, Linux and Mac will never crack it. The same has already happened in mobile. Its done.
People walk into a mobile store and say “what is the best phone that can do the most stuff for me” and see $100-$200 options for Android, Apple, WP and BB. Windows phone and BB are not even a thought in peoples minds.
Android and Apple are proven platforms. A phone is a 2 year commitment. Who the hell is going to dedicate 2 years on contract to any product associated with the name"windows". Just a terrible mistake for MS to use the Windows name with this line.
Of the 5.8 million Lumias sold, I believe less than 1 million were sold in the US, despite an absolutely enormous marketing push here. I mean, enormous. “People not knowing about it” is not a legit statement anymore.
Regardless, you can sit here and pour over statistics, how about you go into the real world, observe and talk to real people?
Aside from the fact that WP is currently an inferior product in most aspects to both iOS and android, literally no one out of the hundreds of people I know uses a Windows Phone.
I’m a 26 year old male living in a major city. I have a career in engineering and frequently work and socialize with people college aged through senior citizens. Males and females of all ages.
Females in particular are absolutely enamored with apple products. You’re blind if you can’t see it.
No one likes the interface of either WP or W8.
WP offers 9-10 quantifiable advantages (if that) over its competitors, that offer literally thousands of advantages over WP in the form of an actual ecosystem.
When i for WP 2 years ago it was a good alternative to Android at the time. In the 2 years since, Android has literally improved 10 fold while WP hasn’t added more than 10 useful features.
I follow blogs like these to find useful apps and see actual news about the platform… The diluted “When will WP finally succeed” discussion is getting tired and old.
