Ok, so I maybe should have used the current Google Music service that allows you to upload music and have it anywhere as my example rather than Match… I just happen to use Match and love it. I also use Spotify and the dream is to have it all mixed up… oh, with an iOS app.
The thing with Spotify is you have to sync those songs from your computer when you are home and store them on your device. It sounds like this is bringing in one of the coolest features of iTunes Match – where you can upload songs to their server and can have your own content wherever you are – along with the millions of songs you don’t own – like Spotify.
Pretty cool, really.
No iOS? Short term deal killer for me… I’d switch just to save the $2! And wow have I been impressed with Google apps for iOS. Google Now is rocking my world, and the voice search is so fast I show it off to people like I just got a new phone.
I have a strong feeling that Apple is in the process of screwing this up. Giving us a taste of freedom but then shutting us down when we need to hear that one song…
