It depends really on your preference. Want a massive screen AND don’t really care about the difference in portability (I’m 5’3" and I can pocket the Note just fine.) then the Note will do it for you. Need more power? SGSIII.
The Note doesn’t have NFC (at least the international version doesn’t), so if you need more juice you can just pop in a battery replacement without losing functionality. The stylus is a plus. It really does come in handy especially in really cold places. It’s also good for closing those popups/modals in the browser that have really tiny X buttons.
The Note’s hardware is way more than enough for me. CPU Spy even reports I’m on 200-400mhz and deep sleep 80% of the time, meaning I don’t take advantage of the phone’s power that much at all. With that said I like the new TouchWiz, and I wish XDA will be able to port most of the stuff from SGSII to the Note.

Jesus, “S Voice” has been around for ages. SGS has it, SGSII has it, my Note has it, my old original Galaxy Tab had it. Saying Samsung copied Apple here is loads of bull. They just advertised it in SGSIII and named it “S Voice”, that’s why it’s getting this much attention.

I am particularly excited because this will be my first Apple purchase. I must admit, I’m a die-hard Android fan and power Windows user and have been for the past… several versions. However I still admire the iPad and Macbooks and I haven’t been financially capable of getting them in the past few years.
However I’ve realized about a year ago that it’s probably about time to learn something new so I decided that I’ll be getting a Macbook in 2012. :)

If you want to avoid the apps spamming your friends, remove it and when you attempt to read again, at the dialog prompt, set it to not show your friends every time you read an article. I forgot the exact wording, but I recently removed all my apps and found this when I tried to read an article from Yahoo!.

The SGSIII has a menu button. You won’t be getting a black strip at the bottom.

I find TouchWiz additions quite useful, save for some stuff like motion gestures, etc. which I don’t really use and can be turned off. I would agree, ICS looks better, because TouchWiz looks dated and even still takes some cues from Eclair such as icon colors, etc.
As of the moment, I can’t live without TouchWiz. No Non-Samsung stock ROMs exist for the Galaxy Note that lets me keep the features which are the reasons why I bought it. It also annoys me that they removed the search button. On bigger phones, you’ll have to reach up top to get to the search bars. With TouchWiz, you can just long press the menu button and I’ve gotten used to that through the years already.
The major disappointment for me was the lack of a Plus display. Doesn’t bother me, but it would have been better. In terms of design, not a major disappointment but not a wow factor. SGS, SGS2, Note, SGS3, they’re all meh: can live with. Samsung phones do feel cheaper than others but they’re pretty rock solid even when dropped.
