Both the buyer and seller in your example are PayPal customers, so your example is moot.
PayPal’s monopoly on online payments, resulting high-fees and draconian attitude are anti-consumer practices.

I think I prefer the black with silver accents on the X100, opposed to the all-black design of the X-Pro 1; which is good, since I also own an X100.

Perhaps this is a good attempt at marketing to their user base. The people who are ridiculous enough to buy into a concept like the Note, are probably also ridiculous enough to buy into a concept like mindless jingoism.

If Topolsky, a man with superb sartorial sense, doesn’t mention how poorly Marco’s jackets fits him, I will be disappointed. No sir, you take those Instapaper-millions and get fitted for a proper blazer with a tailor.

Whilst I acknowledge the developers of this app, and can understand its purpose, I simply outright refuse to use something that isn’t made or endorsed by Richard Stallman – that man is the true innovator of our time. These wannabe developers like Marco Arment and Nate Weiner are just fools to think they can stand up against the greatness that is Richard Stallman – he truly is a god among men.
Richard Stallman doesn’t have any VC funding. Richard Stallman doesn’t take any trouble from anybody; nobody tells Richard Stallman what to do. Richard Stallman doesn’t use an email client. Nobody renders Richard Stallman’s mail. Do you know who renders Richard Stallman’s mail? Richard Stallman, that’s who. Richard Stallman can code PHP; Richard Stallman can code any language he darned-well pleases – do you know why? He’s Richard Stallman, that’s why. Who are you tell Richard Stallman which languages he can code? Who are you tell Richard Stallman anything? You’re nothing compared to Richard Stallman.
How dare anybody make fun of Richard Stallman – after all he’s been through. Anybody who has a problem with Richard Stallman can deal with me. You leave Richard Stallman alone.
And finally, you are better off using Windows anyway.

Without seeing them side-by-side, I could see how a non-informed consumer could confuse the two sizes; in fact, I’m sure the majority of consumers have trouble differentiating between the micro and mini SIMs that we have now.

From the looks of it, Apple’s design is in the best interests of the consumer; does that compensate for the possibility that it could be a cause for device malfunction?

The up-front fee for the iPhone is comparable, if not higher than similar top-end devices. I don’t see how the subsidy affects consumers who buy any other devices – the money to pay for the devices still comes from the consumer eventually. If anything, the higher overall cost of the iPhone should be a boon to other device manufacturers to undercut the iPhone. Your remark about the iPhone’s hardware is therefore moot, as the other manufacturers have the opportunity to create similar hardware (or at least have the budget to do so), yet are unable to do so.

I don’t think that’s completely true. Blackberry Messenger nor Google Talk automatically switch over from SMS without the user’s influence – the user can be completely oblivious to the fact iMessage exists apart from their reduced carrier bill.

Isn’t that better for the consumer? Excluding Apple’s minor snafu with AT&T false "4G" branding, the over-arching relations between the carriers have been in either Apple’s and/or consumers’ interests: iMessage being a prime example of a feature that is absolutely in the interests of consumers, and not in the interests of carriers.

This just looks like it could be in their low-cost line of handsets, not their flagship model. Their hardware design has got worse from the Galaxy S II, which wasn’t a pretty device to begin with.

I’m renting a new apartment soon, and as Mountain Lion comes with AirPlay support I’m planning to purchase a central speaker system for use with my iPhone, iPad and Mac (since I don’t own, nor plan on owning a TV). Impressed with the Jambox, I was hoping that the rumoured Big Jambox would have AirPlay support to suit this requirement. Bluetooth doesn’t offer the same audio quality, isn’t as constantly reliable as AirPlay and requires the requisite of having Bluetooth enabled on the devices – the increased battery drain of the devices using the JamBox is far more catastrophic than the battery life of the JamBox itself.
As such, this isn’t an option I can consider.
