It’s certainly doable with firmware update and developer’s support.
Now those are the hard one.

I’ve been hearing a lot of breakthrough in this regard over the years but it seems that none ever reach manufacturable state.

Meh, I’d wait for better interface to control my ingame character. I don’t want to have to stand and do aerobic to play my game, that’s the opposite of why I play video game.

I may be missing detail here but does XB1 even allow digital games to be sold? PS4 has digital AND physical games, which you can freely share and sell unlike XB1, that’s my point.
Let’s see which one will relent first, gamers or publishers. Judging from the overwhelming response everywhere I’d bet on the former.
Oh and you seems to make a big deal out of piracy while it’s clear that their main target in this anti-consumer policy is used games sales. PS3 isn’t even piratable until late in its life, I don’t see PS4 will have that problem in immediate future.

Funny I can still sell my physical book and PS4 also has digital download option for those who prefer that.
Customers don’t care about the reason they care about the game, if they’re stuck with internetless day for whatever reason or MS server got fucked up and they find that they can’t play the game they’ve bought there’d be outrage.
In the long run, MS’ model will be less appealing for GAMERS, let’s see how developers make a fortune on a platform with no player.

How are those NOT gimmick.
I just want to play the game comfortably on my couch without having to worry if Kinect heard me farting and send nuke to my character ingame ffs. I don’t want to shout, I don’t want to flail my hand like an idiot, I just want to chill, isn’t that the point of video games? I’d play sport outside with my friends if I want to be active.

It’s been to my understanding that theverge has a lot of MS fans/apologists or even turfers around compared to other sites. That’s why I don’t usually bother reading the comment on article about Windows 8 around here.

Here we go again.
“You just hate change!”
Seems to be the mantra these days for MS.

Now combine this with oculus and ultrasound http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/7593444.stm and we’d be one step closer to holodeck.
