I guess I can’t bring myself to be outraged, but I’ve been conditioned to use the Google Voice extension for forever (it does suck that there doesn’t seem to be a decent replication for Firefox). But even /then/ you can still initiate the call from voice.google.com’s web interface.

If anything, it seems to me that the infrastructure is there and they need to polish it and put a better UI on the calling/contact management and it’s good to go.

I’m still massively disappointed about XMPP federation, but I’m still interested to see where this goes.

Huh? My Google Voice number rings in Gmail, and it opens in a hangout.

Meaning I can initiate a call from the Google Voice widget extension and it rings in Hangouts and I can answer it and carry on the call, etc.

Or am I misunderstanding what we’re talking about?
