They knew who the bomber was, they found materials, and you’re saying the reasonable response was to take his belongings, drive to a landfill, throw them away, and tell people nothing?
The decent thing to do would have been to go to the FBI as soon as they figured out who the bomber was. If they were scared they would look like they were involved, then why did they immediately involve themselves? If you’re scared you would look like you were involved, would the first thing you would do to be actually help the suspect?
