He has been talking about IPN for at least a decade. I graduated high school back in 03 and did my senior English paper over him and Kahn. It came up in my research back then.

I agree on both points Trek always felt like America took over the world. B5 always felt like more of the world. It even had some more subtle references to Native Americans. Not that Trek didn’t in the later years. B5 still had an American/English-speaking/Western bent to it. Shoot in the backstory that JMS made the Earth Alliance started when the main English speaking countries, the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand all joined together and then the rest slowly joined later.
