they messed up the drop shadow behind the white text, that’s why its hard to read. on iOS the shadow ist stronger and therefor it’s a lot easier to read the white text. I expect this to be corrected very soon :)

One of the most interesting questions (to me) about google glass: How can you read something from the heads-up-display anyway? It’s way too close to the eye to focus on it?!

I don’t think it’s THAT insane to demand a contact export option from Facebook, Google, Yahoo (and most other web services that feature contacts) allow me to do that.
I don’t mean a button “get your contacts to Google+”, but an export as CSV file should be possible, especially since Facebook owes part of its growth to importing contacts from yahoo, gmail etc.
Why should they make this happen, even though it might hurt their business model?I think of my facebook contacts as MY contacts, not as Facebook’s – after all, Facebook didn’t invent my contacts, the contacts themselves created their profiles (there goes your flawed video game analogy).

Dear Facebook Team,
I would like to export my facebook contacts into Google+. So please make it happen, a normal contact export would be enough. I know, you don’t like Google+ and possibly see it as a threat, but you can also compete on other levels than just the user base. Or can’t you?

the Crazy thing is that’s not a joke! :-P I thought at first that you made the last part up…
I’m wondering why the verge didn’t cite the last part…While you may not be allowed to write “fucks” in the article for some reason, i think it underlines Zuckerberg’s character and his attitude towards people, and i can only hope someone at facebook has the balls to stand up for privacy…he obviously won’t…

Well, since IE has always been deeply integrated into Windows, i wouldn’t agree that these were “two separate products” from a technical point. I agree that Maps is an integral part of Google’s search, but the E.U. seems to think otherwise… let’s see how this plays out.

True, but you also only needed three clicks to get another browser on Windows, and that wasn’t enough for the E.U. either.
The problem is: Are you going to “do the clicks/keystrokes” if you don’t have to, and doesn’t a product have an advantage over a competitor’s when it’s right there for you to use, and you might not even know of the competing product?
In a normal market environment with 3 or more valid competitors, this wouldn’t be a problem, but Google has 90+% market share in Europe and the only existing alternative is Bing/Yahoo…
I’m not saying Google is to blame here, but using your almost-monopoly to promote the rest of your products has always been problematic :-)

The problem here is probably Google’s market share in Europe, which is even bigger than in the U.S.

Since both services are provided by Google, there wouldn’t be an issue if Google search wasn’t almost a monopoly in Europe. But the 90-something market share in search in Europe will surely have it’s consequences for Google, like it had for Microsoft and Windows (The internet explorer inclusion comes to my mind…)

next step for me: Ask myself why they tested a brand new windows phone against devices that are a lot older…Why e.g. Galaxy S (2 Years old now) and not the Galaxy SII, which has a brighter display…
Almost looks like they wanted the Lumia to win…

If you like Google or not, their search has basically become the worlds ‘Index’ for everything on the internet. This power comes with great responsibility, and Google has proven to screw up sometimes. Sometimes they’ve been rightfully sued, sometimes not so much (I remember a strange case with a french insurance company).
One thing I have to add, though: No matter how hard you try, you cannot do this “the right way”. Google – and especially it’s search engine – is drowning in a flood of interests from
I expect the situation to get even worse for Google. Not because they’re “evil”, but because nowadays everyone understands what a huge thing the internet has become.

Well, i think we might need some more information on what your telecom company wants to offer via Google Play.
You can’t just display a cute kitten (lots of women would click on that) next to some barely-covered breasts (lots of men would click on that) when you’re trying to sell something completely different….or can you?

My roommate has an Iphone 4s and I’m using a Galaxy S2, and we’re both “heavy” users if you will. Lots of texting, about an hour of calls a day, and using basically the same data-intensive apps on both devices(Facebook, Whatsapp, E-Mail sync). We both get through the day without problems , but it would never last for another full day. We both end up with between 15-30% of battery left at the end of the day.
Then again, i don’t think it’s that bad.
Having to charge my smartphone every day actually made me run out of power less frequently than on featurephones. The reason for that is that charging the phone has become part of my daily routine, whereas with the old phones I often didn’t pay attention to the battery until it was too late.
