I can speak at length about the Flyer. I used it as my daily driver for just over a year. It became an invaluable part of my workflow. The notes app synced with Evernote so I was always able to have my notes on my computer, either my work computer or my home computer, for quick and easy reference. That’s the crux of it though, the Flyer is fantastic for support, not acting on its own.
When my laptop was stolen by the TSA (really long story) I tried to use a Flyer as my computer and it just didn’t work. The processor is old, and too slow to run Honeycomb. Everything lags. The stylus works like a dream. Since it’s communicating with the tablet it knows the difference between when your finger touches the screen and when the stylus does. Very helpful.
The notes app is really well designed and seamlessly syncs with Evernote. You do have the ability to record and take written notes, but the mic is not great. If you’re in a large lecture hall I wouldn’t want to have to rely on it.
If you’re looking for a tablet as a computer replacement then I think the only option is the iPad. It’s what I bought to replace my computer because I needed something that could also be a work horse, and didn’t want to spend a lot of money. Penultimate is a fantastic note taking app that you can sync to Dropbox or Evernote. It allows you to add pictures into notes and annotate them. Pick up a stylus (I use the Bamboo but I also really like the MagLus) and’ll be pretty good to go. You can also get apps like Pages and Numbers if you need to type something longer.
tldnr version is this: The Flyer is only good if it is supporting a computer (or two). Acting on its own you will become frustrated with it’s speed, the browser, and lack of application support. All 3 things you will not find on the iPad with a bluetooth keyboard.

Ha. Yeah, i guess they could have picked any other name for her. Or maybe Ridley is a big fan of the Millennium Trilogy.
