The problem I have with synthetic benchmarks is that they aren’t real word apps. Please give the name of a few apps optimized for a quad core CPU (other than games).
With a strong dual-core CPU, nearly every app runs faster. Quad-core? Doubtful. Here’s an example of a pre-production A15 at 800Mhz beating a 1.5Ghz Quad core Tegra 3: http://www.electronista.com/articles/12/02/23/ti.omap5.demo.shows.a15.more.than.2×.faster/

It’s as if you didn’t even bother to read the big bold words in the article. Krait is NOT based on any ARM reference design
That’s like saying a Intel Core 2 Duo and AMD Athlon X2 are related because they both run x86. No!!!

Except, I’ll bet you it’s a WVGA panel since that’s what Samsung was making last year for the Galaxy S II.

I hate the “thin phone” trend. I want good battery life. I want a good camera sensor. I want my phone not to be a paperweight. It’s like people gawking at thin TVs when 99.999% of the time they will be staring at the front, not the side!

Why not the HTC One X? Why not the Galaxy S III when it comes to the states?

That’s undeniable, but unless you’re watching a ton of MKVs, can one positive outweigh that many “negatives”?

“Instagram” – a unit of measurement for startups with crazy valuations with little to no revenue. Ex. Pinterest was recently valued at 1.5 Instagrams.

Considering Apple doesn’t actually manufacture the camera sensor and the parts are from either OmniVision or Sony, I find it odd that no one else has really topped the 4S even 8 months after it launched.
Makes me wonder if/when one of the phone OEMs is going to license tech from Canon or Nikon to really get the improvements needed to shine.

Any talk of camera performance really needs to be done in a standarized way like here with the HTC One X: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5779/htc-one-x-for-att-review/5

S4 Krait isn’t based on A15 at ALL. That’s like saying a Core 2 Duo is the same as an Athlon X2 because they both run x86. Not related.

A lot of the stuff that eventually ends up in iOS comes from the jailbreak community. You’d be surprised what they actually use. WiFi sync is probably the most famous one of them all.

Vista sold 380 million copies. Assuming Windows 8 sells only that much, that’s a huge userbase to ignore with an opportunity to develop new apps.

I think it’s less that the camera is mediocre but the relatively low-res screen doesn’t show off the camera’s pictures all that well. Plus, it’s not all that great in low-light.

And I am sure he’s upset about the level of speculation that’s going on on the web. Only makes me think the noose is going to be tighter the next time around.

Considering the amount of time it’s taking to get an official version of 4.0.4 from Verizon, buy an Android phone for the hardware, not the software, but make sure it’s an extremely popular model like the HTC One X or Samsung Galaxy S III so developers are motivated to get around issues like an unlocked bootloader. In otherwords, avoid Motorola devices (funny since they are owned by Google now).

CPU and GPU are rather meh, were supposed to be 1.5Ghz/384Mhz respectively but ended up downclocked 20%. So so camera, cheap plasticky feel, and meh LTE battery life don’t help either.
