First, there’s a math error:
“Under the July 2010 plan, the state provided a $75 million loan guarantee, though 38 Studios only received $13 million at closing. The remaining $38 million…” That should be “remaining $62 million.”
Second, I thought I read a story that the company’s name was changed because the Boston Red Sox weren’t happy about it. Maybe the team was prepared to take legal action? I couldn’t find anything with Google, but I swear I’m not making this up.
Finally, I’m biased. I’m a New York Yankees fan, and I don’t like Curt Schilling. I’ve read he’s a Tea Partier (or at least a fan) who thinks the government shouldn’t give anyone handouts. But I guess it’s okay to take millions of dollars from the state of Rhode Island for a video game company.
