Mine was dropped like twice or maybe three times. On the lower part of the chamfered edges it has several scuffs, and in the top there are two or three noticeable ones. Been on an inCase case but it does not protect those parts that are scuffed. That is why they got damaged when dropping it.

I would pick up the HTC One. Considering you are coming from an iPhone 5, the design will feel “similar”, kinda. But i think it is a better bet.
