Please link to this article where they showed BOTH a new and old iPad to people on the street, side by side, and “most of them” chose the iPad 2 because they thought the display was better.

Or people with unusually high resolution displays on their PCs. Just like a PC, remember gaming on the iPad isn’t its only use case. So you wouldn’t put a poor resolution monitor on your PC just because you couldn’t run games at the full resolution of a very high res monitor.

If that’s the case then we should be able to get some “current console” games at 1024 × 768 on the new iPad, no? Since there’s no reason why it has to run at its full resolution, and pixel doubling still looks pretty good since you’re still talking about a fairly tiny “dot”.

Huh, this is funny. I was just doing some comparisons of an iPad 2 and 3rd gen in terms of RAM usage for games. I loaded theverge.com on both of them and that’s when I saw this article comparing graphics between the two iPads :)
Oddly enough I was testing with N.O.V.A. 3. The nova3 process itself uses the same amount of RAM on both devices. However Springboard was using 71 MB on the 3 and 25 on the 2. I guess that’s where the additional RAM to feed the GPU will be used. Not 4X as much though, and if you add the RAM used by the app, the iPad 3rd gen only used 20% more RAM (of course I have no way of knowing whatever else the Springboard process may be using for the OS, etc).

It did look like the repo was down but I eventually got that to work (see above). Go to the Changes section, reload, and try again. I was able to get all of my usual stuff installed including NCSettings. Since I had to do the same thing on 2 different iPads i’ll assume it wasn’t just timing.

My reason is to install a couple of tweaks to play around, and to install OpenSSH so I can show people that closing the last 99 apps in the App drawer does absolutely nothing if they aren’t already in memory :) No interest in pirating very inexpensive apps.

Do a factory reinstall from iTunes of 5.1.1 and then try.

Try canceling the stuck “loading” of packages when you first launch it. Then go to the Changes tab and reload, and wait for it to finish. See then if your packages are visible. That worked for me.

(If you have issues getting it to work with the on-device reset that is, as this method takes more time).

Use iTunes to do a factory restore first before running the tool. This worked for me and another commenter having issues. I successfully jailbroke both an iPad 2 and 3rd gen iPad using this method.

That said, you might want to wait if you’re really relying on your current jailbreak, until they iron out the bugs :)

Try plugging your device into iTunes, doing a full factory restore (not restoring the backup you already made of course). Then activate the device with iTunes (as a new device). Then quit iTunes and run Absinthe.
I had problems when using the Erase all settings from device and then running it like the readme says.

I didn’t know similar things were already used for vaccinations for decades (apparently with some risks for transferring disease from one recipient to another).

Which makes me wonder why they haven’t improved Siri yet, or just added tons and tons of witty responses to silly questions.

Yes but with all of their accusations of copying Apple., you would think they would just design it to be more different. Not that Apple owns that microphone icon, but that it’s just funny that they didn’t take 5 minutes and choose a different one, and make the rest of the interface more distinct from it.

Wasn’t it the Verge Galaxy Nexus review that noted it still had lag in unusual places?
