Tip! Each level of brightness you set varies when you turn on the Automatic toggle.
So the lowest brightness is activated on Low + Automatic (which is why someone got a lower brightness on Battery Saver; that puts the phone into this mode).
I actually really like the implementation that WP8 has; iOS’ brightness slider/automatic setting never worked well, you had to dig 5 menus deep to access the slider every time and was one of the reasons I would jail break, just to get quick access to the stupid slider.
On my android tablet I had to buy an app to help control brightness.
Although, the worst part of my lumia is that in pitch black, the display is low, but the silk screened lights are blinding me at full blast… What the hell. Did no one try reading with the phone in darkness during developemt and think this was a good idea?!!
Modern IE uses the grey scale smoothing, desktop IE uses clear type. I hate the new rendering method also and spent a long time trying to figure out why it sucks (its basically optimized for future devices, not current ones).
