I’m pretty much in the same situation. I plan on switching over to T-Mobiles $30/month plan, but have been having a hard time choosing a phone. I’m currently an Android user and work/play almost exclusively in an OS X environment, so I could really go either way.
Ultimately, I think I’m going to end up waiting for the next iPhone. The quality of the phone’s camera is one of my top priorities and even though the One’s camera is a low light beast, the 4 MP doesn’t really cut it. I’ve considered the Galaxy S4 as well, but it doesn’t really excite me. I’m sure it’s a great phone and access to the battery/micro SD card slot is great; however, the build quality just doesn’t feel premium.
Unless Google unveils something mind blowing at I/O, it’ll be an iPhone for me — and, hopefully, a newly customizable iOS 7.

I’m so overdue for a new phone it’s insane. I’m still rocking an OG Droid running Bugless Beast (which I firmly believe to be the only reason the phone is still useable at all).
I was going to pick up an iPhone 5, but with all the buzz about the 5S/a low cost iPhone I decided to wait. Now, it seems my wait may be longer than expected. Normally, I wouldn’t care about having “the newest” iPhone, however, the camera quality is a HUGE part of my decision to lean towards the iPhone and a 12 or 13 megapixel camera seems like it would be a significant upgrade from the 5’s 8 MP.

Not voiding AppleCare is a deal breaker for me as I’m thinking of buying the iPhone 5 from T-Mobile and then tossing in one of their $30/month. According to the T-Mobile reps I spoke too, as long as I buy the phone outright I shouldn’t have a problem. As you might imagine, buying a $579 phone without coverage is not something I’m willing to do, so I would have to forgo jailbreaking if it meant voiding AppleCare.

That’s pretty much exactly what I’m looking for. I want the iPhone camera and I quite like the form factor. And it’s not that I dislike iOS at all, I just want to be able to tweak the UI so it feels like “my phone”.

When you restore the OS, can they tell you’ve jailbroken it? Also, how’s the stability of the OS once jailbroken?
