Once you install the unity-tweak-tool, Unity is customizable enough that I will stick with the main version.
Still I really just want to install ChromeOS version of Chrome with Aura WM. There is a script out there by dz0ny on github but it is only for 64-bit. Have to start doing my own chromium builds…
…but if a chromebook could deliver that, I’d be interested at a number of different price points, and probably would prefer it over a Windows 8 or Mac laptop
I would look at something like the ZTE Grand X. It is a cheaply made phone in some ways but I think the processor will hold up a little better than the Nexus.
You can make the Nexus S somewhat usable but you have to carefully manage it. Anything that syncs in the background slows it down and you get awful lag. So no Chrome, no Facebook app (just use it through the browser), and disable Twitter sync (just refresh it manually when you open the app).
I think what slows this phone down so much is 512 mb of RAM, and single-core processor. So I would look for something dual core and 768mb-1gb RAM. What country/what carrier?
