I’d also like to see a good, iOS-esque panorama app built in to non-Nokia phones. Photosynth is okay, but something that’s more streamlined and works a little more consistently would be awesome.

I’ve been hearing this argument so much lately and it’s really not as big a problem as people make it out to be. The two biggest “basic features” seem to be independent volume controls and rotation lock — two features that are totally necessary but don’t come close to being a game-breaking experience for most users. It’s not as if Windows Phone is missing tons of functionality or anything, it’s missing a couple features that yes, should be included in the next update and probably should have been there earlier, but no, are not the melodramatically experience-destroying features people make them out to be.

This seems to be more of a problem of misplaced expectations than some ambiguous failing on Micrpsoft’s part. YOU are the one who seems to have been expecting GDR2 to introduce a smattering of new feature when this was never promised, planned, or even rumored to be part of their plans. I agree that WP needs to be update but don’t be shocked when every three-month update doesn’t have big-bang features.

I’m pretty confident it’s just a matter of having the correct drivers and / or software support to enable smooth gestures. This is on a $500, 2010 HP laptop, so the trackpad is pretty bad, and it’s still capable of really smooth and responsive gestures with the right support.
