Widescreen is good for one and only one thing: video. Why not optimize for use cases that are actually common?

And yes, it’s an app launcher, as you so put it. That’s what you do with an operating system, you use it to launch apps, and then use the apps.

Exactly this. I love the 3:2 ratio, it’s just perfect. I like the size of the screen as it is, but if they’re going to go through the trouble of making it bigger, at least give me a bigger keyboard as a result. I mean, that’s a significant percentage of what I do on the phone!

You know, having been on this site since it launched (and around the internet for many many years)… these guys have a point. A damn good point. I see people in this comment thread calling them ‘stupid’ and all sorts of other names, but who are really stupid; the people asking us to reconsider how we utilize the internet to connect with one another, or the people who completely lose their shit and start threatening the editors at the Verge for giving an unfavourable review to a goddamn cell phone (I’m looking at you, Lumia retards).

Maybe they have the right idea, I doubt they get into meaningless pissing contests over cellphones. Get over yourselves, commenters. If you lot had a mind half as open as you like to think you have, there wouldn’t be hostility of any kind in this thread, but the sort of contemplation and discussion Paul Miller would probably have liked to inspire.
