By Lord of the Flies are you referring to the book of the same name? If so, we had to read that book at school and I hated it. It annoyed me. On topic, more people have started coming onto the Tribe and therefore there will be more troll posts. Just the way it is which is a shame. Don’t mind people venting their frustration at Microsoft, its just when people slam MS for no reason/smallest reason, that’s when it gets annoying. Then we get a 100+ comments of each side arguing. JUST IGNORE THE POST. Comment on the interesting discussions instead.

One question I have is that with the subscription service, can you download music for offline listening a la Spotify and Xbox Music? Can’t remember if it was mentioned on the keynote, sorry in advance if it was!

Coming from an Android phone, the back button on WP is much better and consistent. The search button is OK in my opinion, I love the quick access to Bing Music and Local Scout but unsure about everything else. It is also the button I keep hitting accidently, not the back button.

You can have it in any colour you like….as long as it’s black or white.

That’s the problem. When I launch the Windows Store app all I get is HTC Apps, Games, Apps and Music. No podcasts.

Yes and they need to improve at a faster rate. Apple and Google can afford to release yearly updates whereas Microsoft can’t because they are playing catch up.

I believe I can’t get podcasts? When I click on it says “its lonely here, go to the store to add podcasts”. So I go to the store and I can’t find podcasts! I’m from the UK if that helps!

Wait, this sounds promising, does this mean my podcasts will sync across my 8X, Surface and laptop???

More social networks would also help make it better like Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, Foursquare and LinkedIn. Then it would be a much better place to view all your content. Same for the Messaging Hub.

Giving voice dialling a try! Also with the Me tile it just sort of makes sense put notifications there. For example, at the moment my Me Tile is showing me that I have 3 new items. I know these are just Twitter notifications. Would it not be better to show 6 new items and include app updates, system updates, messages, email and so on and by tapping one it takes you into that application? Can’t see MS doing it any other better way without copying iOS or Android.

Good idea but could create confusion for the user and fragmentation for the platform. For example, one app doesn’t bring up search where as another does. The user would just be confused.

I agree, I didn’t use Instagram on my Sensation but I want it on WP just so people shut up about it. I would like Vine but Android doesn’t even have it yet so could be a long wait. SnapChat is what I really want. Today I was told that I must get SnapChat and I have had to say that I can’t because I run WP to which my friend replied “Well that’s stupid”. It is stupid and I hope it changes. I also agree that the 8S is one beauty of a phone. My brothers girlfriend has one and it looks miles better than my 8X. Integrated apps need a lot of polishing, knowing that they are still bare boned after 2 years is quite disappointing. MS have some wonderful ideas, they just need to make them complete with finish and polish.

Seems a little tedious but thanks!!

I loved the people hub originally but then noticed its flaws….For example, you have to open pictures up on IE. Also, on Twitter you cant reply to more than one person. You also can’t favourite tweets.
That’s what I wish too. I heard the voice thing wasn’t very accurate. Going to give it a try anyway, cheers!

If you want a locked down system with Microsoft Office then would it really be awful to suggest a Surface RT? Unlike the iPad, it has a micro SD slot and a USB port for when she needs to view a large photo collection. I have one and I love it but I’m just one of many.

Nokia Maps and Nokia Drive are on all Windows Phone 8 devices. Have them on my 8X and they are great.

I have a blue 8x and my corners have darkened because I wear jeans a lot. If it is in a bag or a jacket pocket or something then I don’t think you will see this issue. Mine has also peeled a little in one corner and I don’t know how, not sure if it is from when I dropped it or just from usual wear and tear. If another corner peels then I will ask for it to be replaced. Regarding image quality, in my opinion the 8X takes great daylight photos. They look clear and detailed – however I’m not a camera expert but they are better than my Sensation and in some cases better than a friend of mines S3. Also the 8x has ImageChip which processes the images faster. The 8X really falls in low light imagery with lack of detail and lots of noise. I believe that the 920 and HTC One are the only phones with really adequate low light cameras so it’s not a massive problem. I love my 8x, its thinner and lighter than the 820 and as an avid music listener, Beats Audio integration is more than a gimmick. Battery life is pretty good too, getting me through a whole day without fail. The only thing you miss out on are Nokia goodies.
