I’m a proud owner of the 928, and I wouldn’t deter anyone from buying the 928. It’s a great phone, and at the moment our only option on Verizon that I picked over HTC 8X.
Here is my view-
1. I actually prefer the look of the boxed design, the ‘sharp corners’ haven’t been a problem for me. I have the black matte as I didn’t like the white (Fingerprint magnet). My only gripe is the lack of colors….Would have loved Cyan. I also like that the edges are squared off so that I can place my phone on edge just under my PC monitor.
2 & 3 – Have had no issues with my capacitive buttons, they light up…no blotches. I do wish they were a true white/slightly brighter (but my preference is more for appearance).
4. The AMOLED screen nothing short of amazing…the true blacks are killer….Have had no problems viewing on bright sunny days.
5. I’ve had no problems with the Camera- I do wish the WP photo viewer was better, but I’ve downloaded HD Photo viewer to get the true details. I also have ProShot. I’ve taken some amazing photos, though it could be due to my DSLR experience. Photos have a lot of detail, ok in the day light, and even better during the night – some noise, but to be expected with any phone.
6. I’m sad to say, but just after a full week of having the phone (No cover/No screen protector) – I dropped the phone on the pavement from about a couple feet from the ground getting out of the explorer. It had a lot of momentum and slammed on the cement pavement corner first and tumbled a few times before ending on the glass face. The phone suffered a shattered screen (everything else works). I’m in the process of replacing. I do wish there were more accessories available at launch.
But to the OP, why switch from the 920 to the 928? They are so similar, I would have just waited for what’s to be announced come this fall.
To all those other users on Verizon or otherwise who are remotely interested or undecided, the phone is awesome in my short experience with it….I’m an Android guy coming from Sprint as of 2 weeks ago. I have no experience with the 920, so I cannot speak or attest to the differences there….But on Verizon, this is one of the best phones IMO that I’ve had thus far.

It’s very frustrating not having clear responses from MS. I really hope it turns out for the positive come E3/Build.

This hasn’t been 100% confirmed yet right? There are conflicting blog posts, interviews, etc that make it unclear.

I’m just curious -with the differential in specs, does anyone think the gameplay between the two systems will be that much different? Sure Sony has more exclusives and IP’s which I’ve always envied, but from a performance side I doubt there will be that much difference. I think Sony’s platform is targeted more towards a gaming audience (hence the sharing options etc), and XBOX more towards the living room experience (hence the liveTV/Apps/Snap options). Both will be able to play games.

This! My exact reasons….I think Microsoft is trying to aim its product at a different audience. Gamers are turned off about what they previewed….But in the end many people I know who have a PS3’s said they chose the PS3 because of the BluRay. Not because of gaming, because the console had the extra feature that allowed them to watch BluRay Movies. The console became much more than a gaming system a while back, they are turning into all-in-one media centers/entertainment devices (more than just games).
As I grow older with my family, the living room becomes much more than just a place I can play my game/s on the big screen…..I’m in the process of building my man-cave because of this haha.
My only gripe right now is the appearance of the Xbox One….Yuck.
Would have been cool if they had a pause/play feature like the WiiU. So that I could pause my game and pick up downstairs or upstairs.

I do agree that the PS4 might be a better gaming system….though I wouldn’t say significantly better specs, can you elaborate? I see the PS4 has a great big deal edge over Xbox One because of it’s exclusives. Online play though I prefer XBOX,
