It’s hella inconvenient (like any new tax is), but it is the closing of a loophole. Hard to justify having brick-and-mortar stores pay taxes when Amazon with a warehouse down the street is going all willy-nilly.

Technically we were always supposed to pay taxes on these items, now Amazon and the like will have to just collect them.

Personally I think its a fault with designers. The easy way out of designing an app is to stick to the defaults. White on black with easy tiles. Metro is intimidating and aggressive. It’s hard to overpower something like that and still feels like a part of the phone.

What does the rest of your ecosystem look like? Windows/Linux/OS X? If you have a Mac at all, I’d say go with the iPhone.

Also you should look at how much you’ve spent on apps with Android. Make sure you’re not just ditching $100s of apps. They’re both great phones. We recently got the iPhone 5 for T-Mobile for my fiancee. Despite sticking to 4G and LTE only, it’s bested reception on my HTC One X. Can’t speak for the One, but I wish you luck.
