Note the vertical signal bars, too (which were in almost all Nokia phones for years….)
Dots are the most brilliant design decision. Vlad is right: we all count bars and we all can’t tell the difference between 3, 4 and 5. Not only are the dots larger, they’re far more clear because they are consistent. Because an ‘empty’ dot is clearly empty. The most you ever have to count to is 2, which is clearly not 1.

That’s a fairly flagrant misunderstanding of what patents cover. No, nothing is new under the sun, but in most cases, patents don’t cover more than the tiniest, most specific implementation of an idea. Take something as simple as Blu-ray. Sure, the optical disc existed prior. But patents covering Blu-ray are not for the fact that it’s an optical disc. Instead, they’re for the specific methods and technologies needed to create, record and playback data (stored in a specific way) on those optical discs, none of which have all been done at the same time in the same way.

I recommend King’s County as well.

I will say there are plenty of magnificent bourbons out there. A recent favorite is a local here in Massachusetts, so it may not be available everywhere: Bully Boy. It’s not ‘officially’ a bourbon and there’s no indication why. Bourbon is so strict it could be as simple as APV during distillation, color (which scotches are allowed as well) or corn content of slightly less than 51%.

So….you’re saying you prefer bourbon (corn) to other (non-corn) whiskey. That’s like commenting on a post about craft vodka that you have yet to find a craft vodka that can compete with a mid-shelf gin. They’re simply two different things with two different sets of ingredients. The fact that bourbon has at least 51% corn makes a huge difference.
Again, your vague use of the term “whiskey” is alarming, considering your obvious knowledge of the craft. The gist of your comment, I think, is now fairly clear, that small batch is not as good as large batch. But even to that point, your assumption is based on one aspect of large batch manufacturing: blending. It has nothing to do with whether the distiller is ‘craft’ or ‘small batch’. Or whether they’re making bourbon, rye, single malt, wheat, oat or 100% corn. And so your statement is pretty much without merit or any clear logic. I simply don’t understand why you’re trying to compare oranges (bourbon) to all other citrus fruits (‘any other whiskey’). It just doesn’t make sense.

To the first part. Not to the last. a) your confusion and haphazard use of “bourbon” and “whiskey” is disturbing. I think you need to better define what you’re talking about. A) Bourbon is whiskey. Just like rye and scotch (well, whisky). B) If you haven’t tasted a good craft whiskey you’ve been tasting the wrong stuff. C) what is your middle shelf bourbon? Because if it’s specifically high corn or sour mash bourbon that you like, there are plenty of bourbons out there that will beat the pants off Jack Daniels, Buffalo Trace or Maker’s Mark.

So…why are we showing an image of Hudson bourbon for a story on Tennessee white whiskey?
You guys seriously need a photography/image reboot.
Is it that you don’t want to spend the money, or do you just not care? The Verge (and Engadget before) has the worst photography in the business. And I say that with all e love in the world.

I think what he’s saying is that is clearly not a screen. The back of a screen, maybe. Nor does the vertical ‘piece’ look anything an attached bit. Laptop (case top) yes. Slider, no.
