I’m going to agree with many of the comments here, in that this formula of a show just doesn’t work out for me. Sure it’s a live audience, but they are clearly all staffers, and this reminds me of the terrible jokes and fake laughter that I see on the now terrible Attack of the Show. After watching all of the Engadget shows with Josh & gang, and the original On The Verge show, with Josh & gang, this show is a real dissapointment (I turned it off before it finished). Really liked the original OTV episodes, but I understand they may have been too expensive to continue producing. OTV felt like a gathering of fans, and friends (hosts), and had some good quality content. This just feels like another example of The Verge distancing themselves from direct fan involvement.
If it stays like this, more power to the people that like it, otherwise I’ll pass.

The Verge has definitely grown, and evolved since the beginning. It is much different now than it was before, in some ways for the better, and in other ways for the worse. I agree that they don’t cover the level of tech they did before, and I find with the tight schedule of podcasts and shows, the quality of the Vergecast isn’t what it used to be. There is a lack of longer open conversation in order to satisfy the need to crunch through topics because they can’t run late. I’ve been finding that I don’t get as much out of the podcasts as I used to, because of this. I guess these are examples of them growing and branching out, and becoming more systematic, but in all honesty it drives me to look elsewhere for meaningful conversations and heavy tech news.

There seems to be a little bit of confusion right now with the new “Videos” page, and just regular posts. Seems to be two posts for the same podcast, by two different people, on two different pages, and navigating there is different. They also have different comment streams as they are two posts. One post doesnt seem to have any links for any media.
Confusing.

I suffered from a C. diff. infection for about 6 weeks, and I can tell you it was fucking brutal. As mentioned in this article, it definitely takes over your life. Through multiple phases of concentrated antibiotics mixed with live probiotics was the only way to re balance. I would say it took a good 10 more months to fully reestablish a balanced bacterial system. Not fun.

Yes Topolsky is win, but definitely less interruptions when he’s not there.

I’m curious to see what kind of format this weekly show will follow. I find even now with Top Shelf always starting after the Vergecast that the Vergecast seems to short often, not enough time to go into depth on some topics. I’m worried that OTV will follow suit, being weekly and all, does that mean more cramming and less depth? Depth is good! Too many shows with not enough time = lack of depth. I suppose we will see, guess I shouldn’t jump to conclusions?
