What? Its the same as its always been. The problem was that devices did not have enough ram to multitask properly. The implementation of the multitasking system works perfectly, and is much more innovative than simply pausing it.

You can target higher API levels, and have a lower minimum API level. Thus, allowing you to write your app with ICS and GB APIs, and only use the one appropriate for the device its running on.

And of course, putting the UI thread on real time priority is an excellent idea. There must be a really good reason why real OSs such as Linux, Windows, OSX and Android don’t do it.
