I really don’t get the complaints about the nexus 4 camera. The pictures I took on my last vacation (west coast trip) were actually pretty good. Better than I expected after reading all the bad press online. Sure I also took my powershot along but nobody could tell the diference when I showed my photos to my friends.
Well the problem is there are no good ones. The only acceptable one is kaiten but I have my problems with it. And I disagree – if google provides stock android it’s their job to make sure there is a good email client on board. One that doesn’t just work with their own services.
How would you change gallery?
I think the 3d effect doesn’t fit with the new style direction of android. It seems more like a honecomb thing. Also it makes no sense that it scrolls horizontally. Googles own SDK doesn’t even support horinzontal scrolling for list views.
YouTube app is fine also. It went through a redesign before the rest of the apps.
There are lags in some android apps. But as an android developer I really have to blame the developers and not android or google. Facebook lags on my nexus 4 – but I think everybody knows that facebook just has no idea how to make android apps. The apps I developed do not lag – and yes there are many images and big lists involved – you just have to know what you are doing. A big factor in lagging apps is the bad async loading of images. There are really great open source libraries out there that do all the work for you – but you have to know and use them. There is no good solution out of the box – and I think thats a big problem.
