Thanks for the reply. Just a note, though, Taliban isn’t really a name for orthodox Muslims. They are a Muslim group that believe in orthodox principles, but looking to just one group doesn’t define very religious people.

First off, great piece and an interesting read. I’ve got a question that comes to mind, though. Pieces like this spark “thought,” and the Orthodox Jewish community is respected for their devotion and their attempts to keep a religious household dominant.
As a Muslim, I couldn’t help but wonder: Why is it, when us “orthodox” Muslims do something like grow a beard, excuse ourselves from overly acquainting with the opposite gender, or talking about the harms of the internet, we’re dubbed “extremists,” “sexists,” and “anti-semetics?” Oh, and don’t forget “terrorist,” for the beard part.
Just some food for thought.
