There is one glaring thing that isn’t mentioned in this article. From what I can tell all of this should work seamlessly with FIOS, and the FIOS Xbox app. If that is the case and I can use it as a DVR, they checked all the boxes, at least for one cable company.

Replace “control” with profit and I agree whole heartily. We should line up the CEO of cable companies next to the Hosptial industry CEO’s and give em one goood wack.

I thought Nilay said in great online TV feature, that cable companies are no longer forced to let customers rent a cablecard instead of a box, due to FCC dropping that rule.

answered my own question. "External thunderbolt graphics card enclosure. ":http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2013/06/06/silverstone-external-graphics-card-case-deb/1
Now can they make it air play your mac book pro onto your ipad and apple TV. This might be the revolution I’ve been looking for.

Where are these USB 3 and thunderbolt products that replace PCI card products? Did Nvidia make a external graphics card I don’t know about, or external sound card? I know people use it for external hard drives. Are there new products now?

Have they created a GPU that works outside of the box with a Thunderbolt connection?

you could say stock price is a reflection of how fast a company is moving toward progress. Another would be expansion into other markets, creation of a new market, or dominance of a newly created market. Reflecting on apple for the past year, where are they expanding, or creating new markets? Where have they change the idea of something that already existed?

This makes my point perfectly if you look at the market as a boxing ring, apple has been killing it lately, but who are they fighting? Samsung. microsoft, maybe sony. They used to have a lack (this device is unable to multitask, no you can’t wirelessly sync your iTunes account, why do I care that you don’t have a phone signal). This criticism fueled the fire that they could do things wrong. It is true, all the things they had to fix were seen as small, apple didn’t lose huge amounts of market share because of it’s lack. I think that criticism can be a driving force of change. if everyone(or the majority) thinks’ your products are perfect why change them, in any significant way? It’s the same problem microsoft has, and may continue to have(some might say) to this day.
another way to put it if the press, and market are all Yes men, why would a company change?

You doubt that necessity is the mother being the mother of invention. I can’t tell you how many times in my life I’ve had to innovate on something purely because I didn’t have the means to do it another way. It’s not a platitude, bill gates is trying to develop a cure for malaria because it’s needed, not because it’s something he just wants to do.
And where is the far more negative press, last time I checked they went to congress and got fawned over. This anit-trust thing has been the first criticism on how they operate as a company. Even when people found out they were using sweat shop’s with suicide nets, it never change the populous opinion that apple can’t really do any harm.
