A gunshot is way easier to detect than a footstep (and there’s ton of pedometer apps), so I expect developers to have this ready ASAP!

To me, it just seems to make it easier for people who have already left to communicate with people who still use BlackBerry devices. Older BB devices did not have the conversation feature, so BBM was the only way for conversational chat sessions to occur. When people switched to Android/iOS, then those still on BB devices that communicated with non-BB users had to go back to non-conversational style messaging. Now, this makes it easier for BB users to communicate with non-BB users. I see it as a way for people still on older BB devices to stay on BB devices.

Reading that lenders will be given high positions makes me cringe. I expect Sharp quality to just decline and then fade out of existence.

No, they’re playing a real life deadly game of Plague Inc. And what you said about a low chance, I would rather there be a zero chance!

Exactly! I say that the laptop was a big red herring. The sensitive information was probably on a USB drive hidden in his bum. This is a blunder on the part of the detectives.

I agree that finding a box full of cards and letters is quite nice. I have a couple of boxes of old letters from graduations, birthdays and travels. This is in line with your above post. However, what if my home were to catch fire and burn down? Anything flammable would be lost. However, all my emails from the past 15 years, all my photos that have been uploaded to the cloud (which is every single one of them), and all my text messages with my girlfriend would still be intact. This is a huge testament to the benefit of the digital age. As long as backups are done, then everything is going to be in tact and never disappear.
For people who think a physical letter is more tangible, then I think that with some enlightenment on best practices of backing up data (at least 2 places where 1 of them is off-site) and leaving a digital last will and testament behind (through passwords left in a safety deposit box or secure notes in 1Password), they may see that the all-internet situation will be a more durable place for love notes.

If this is what “flat” UI/UX means, then I seriously hope Apple doesn’t go in this direction. I rather like how the icons and folders seem to “float” on top of the background on the current iOS version.

There’s many video player apps on the App Store where you can copy a video file via USB or wifi to the player’s documents area and watch the movie. Just search video player and the first couple do just that.

I just came back from Europe yesterday and flew Ryanair and Aer Lingus locally while I was there. Both flights required all electronic devices to be turned off for takeoff and landing, just like in the USA.

I hope that it has some kind of counter weight on the other side so that the camera doesn’t just eventually droop down.
