Would you be willing to pay for it with a camera bump? 1.4x thicker for a camera module.

Adjustment period going from hardware keyboard to on-screen keyboard takes about 1-2 weeks. It’s not that painful.
If she definitely must have a hardware keyboard, why not wait until the Q10?

Don’t think about it in terms of megapixels, think about it in terms of pixel size. I would not get a phone with anything less than 2 micron sensors, 1.1 microns is too small.

No, it’s not. However, if it keeps building good products, it will be able to command a price premium, leading to profitability.

One does not need to lead in marketshare in order to be successful. Pre-iPhone era Apple proved this.

It IS exciting, but so far Sense 5 is close enough to stock that I don’t really care. There are just a few little things that bother me, like better notification pulldown menus in stock.

In his defense, he did say that it was, in the absolute, better than the previous generation. It’s just that it’s slimy in comparison to the likes of the HTC One and the iPhone 5. I’m sure he’d choose an HTC One with stock Android over the GS4 with stock.
Furthermore, I suspect his answer to your question would be yes: He does indeed care about the software enough to compensate for the detriments of its physical design.

Some people are insensitive with respect to price. They don’t care what it costs, within reason. Crazy, I know.

Oh Nokia. Why can’t you just remake the 800 with current gen internals? That’s all we’ve ever wanted.

Pretty hilarious that the whole point of the video was lost on about a third of the people here, and they/you/we continue doing exactly as before. I think they call it dramatic irony.

There is no accounting for taste. Don’t get so worked up over it. Let people enjoy the things that they like, and enjoy the things that you like in peace.

I think the moral of the story is: It is really, really hard to turn a hardware company into a services company. You are not Lou Gerstner, you will fail.

Here we go again, misusing “beg the question.” It would actually “raise the question.”
Which raises the question, when troll trolls a troll, isn’t that because a troll is just being a troll? Or would that be begging the question?

And Apple will fail with touchscreens; Microsoft already failed at it.
Or, maybe we can just let them try their thing and see if it pans out? It’s all in the execution.

If you’re going to be a pointy headed geek about it, might as well be correct. 200mbs would be 200 megabits, or 50MB. A bit is a unary quantity, it cannot be split, and hence you cannot have “millibits.”

Broadcasters don’t make the majority of money on advertising anymore, it’s all about subscription fees from cable companies/subscribers. Broadcasters main goal is to keep local networks’ audience and prestige, OTA gives them the benefit of being the legacy entity.
I don’t think their numbers would change that much in the short run if they were to yank OTA.

Those are sunk costs. What I’d like to see: replace government funded OTA equipment with government funded satellite equipment, get rid of all terrestrial TV, use all that spectrum for MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) internet connectivity.

Hmm, let me think…
1994 A pager. You called, used pager-talk. All very gansta, trust me. Translucent blue, stopped carrying by the time I hit college in ’95.
1999 Ubiquitous Nokia candybar phone on Airtouch? I think I got a free Razor scooter with it.
2000 Motorola StarTac, also on Cingular. Awesome one-handed operation. Remember when people actually cared about ergonomics?
2001 <dark period, lost to history>
2002 Some gray clamshell phone, on Verizon. I can’t quite remember the boring model number, or make. Sanyo? Kyocera? Who knows?!?
2004 Motorola Razr. Back on Cingular. Saw it in a commercial, could not wait to get its thinness into my hands. It was a phone. You called people. NO TEXTS ALLOWED, did not want to spend .40c.
2005 T-Mobile SDA. Great little HTC Windows Mobile phone, with $5 consumer data add-on.
2006 Blackberry Pearl on T-Mobile. It was white with silver trim, friends mocked my “Liberace Phone.” Got really, really good at the Pearl QWERTYish keyboard. I have not typed faster on a mobile device since.
2008 Sprint Blackberry Curve. Full QWERTY action, set up my company’s BES Express server, with one user (me). Lost in a plane.
2009 Palm Pre on Sprint. Phones come and go, but this will be my one true love. Bought used on ebay after playing around with GF’s Pixi (which I forced her to buy). Is currently disassembled, see below.
2011 Nexus S on Sprint. My first real Android phone. Great design, performance, user experience. Was mugged, someone stole it. Good luck reselling a CDMA/Wimax phone, buddy!
2012 Palm Pre 2 on Sprint. Hacked, using a Sprint radio on an unlocked Pre2 body. Wonderful experience, but no apps on dying ecosystem. Smooth! To this day, I can’t get through a full inbox as I could with this guy.
2012 Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch on Sprint. The name says it all. Great phone, good updates over the time I had it. Sold on ebay to some lucky fellow, after having screen refurbished for capacitive button issues.
2013 HTC One on Sprint. It’s been buttery so far. It makes me feel rich.

I don’t believe it’s the broadcaster’s to sell. They were licensed this spectrum for the purposes of broadcasting TV. If they don’t want to do it, their license should be revoked, their licensing fees returned, and then the FCC should auction off the spectrum.
These are public resources, not horses to be traded.
