I’m now on my third iteration of GoogleTVs. At their current sub-$200 price anyone can do that. Each subsequent hardware upgrade and UI change have been better. However at $500 for the XboxOne (plus an expensive annual subscription rate) no one will be upgrading when say HDMI 1.5 comes out and you need a new box to accommodate that standard. Consoles need to last about as long as TVs and unless Microsoft has planned for that this box is going to be a hard sell. It looks pretty though…
For an entertainment box they didn’t mention much about future compatibility with HDMI standards and 4K-
For $500 I don’t want to have to buy a newer model to support 4K video at refresh rates higher than 30 fps.
Screw OTA TV make radio stations all go digital and tighten up that analog bandwidth for data use. We have 9 TV stations in our market but over 30 radio stations- ll using the airwaves to send out low quality audio.
