The problem with Infinity is that next time they go through a release cycle, they have nowhere to go. They’ll have to call it the “Xbox Infinity +1” and lose the lucrative mathematician market.
My money is on the x² Box. ;)

I agree with all your logic, but I don’t know whether or not MS actually need someone else to make a phone for them. They managed with the Surface as a tablet by themselves.
But then I’m not even sure how viable a Surface Phone is with Nokia churning out such excellent models.

There’s a hugely reduced need for a notification centre on WP due to the Live Tiles. I accept some people may want one, but Live Tiles cover most of the use case for a notification centre. As to quad core and 1080p displays, well WP8 runs very, very well on dual core and 1080p on a phone-sized screen is not only unwanted by many, but actually counter-productive as it just eats processor cycles.

I like the very neat integration we are starting to see from them. I have a WP device and a SurfaceRT and a Windows 8 Pro Desktop. Everything is starting to converge in a most productive way.
I like the robustness of the platforms. Coming from a UNIX background I’ve always raised an eyebrow at security and reliability on Windows, but since Windows 7 they’ve really started to get things together and their latest products have a very solid feel to them.
I REALLY like Office 2013. It is an actual joy to use and genuinely increases my productivity. It looks good, it runs great, there’s some seriously clever re-thinking going on with regards to the plugins model and we’re on the third generation of the Ribbon now and it’s absolutely fulfilled its promise, imo.
I also like that I’m paying up front for their services. I’m not a fan of the “free” sales model where either I’m being advertised to, I know my data is being heavily monetized, or both. I give money. I get product. That’s a clean and open model and I like it.
I’m going to limit myself to one more – MS Azure. Seriously, people should try it. Slick doesn’t come close.
