Wired and Gizmodo both reached similar conclusions to David. Specs are all well and good, but in the end you’ll be stuck using this thing for 2 years, it should be pleasant to use.

We already know that Apple is rarely the first one in on a product category. Rather, they wait until they see that something has interest and is gaining traction, and then they use their resources and brand power to dominate the market. This is why the iWatch rumors are so much more plausible than previous (iTV) rumors: wearable tech is the new thing, and everyone wants one, whether it’s a Fitbit, a Fuel Band or a Pebble.
tl;dr: Apple follows the market. The market hasn’t produced any new types of products in 2 years, which is why Cupertino’s been treading water.
