You can cache entire cities with Google Maps for when your cellular network is inaccessible. You then just rely on the GPS antenna and existing maps. It works great and the GPS reception tends to be better on a modern cell phone like the Galaxy Nexus than your average GPS navigation unit.

We all know Apple hates anything open. Look at how they destroyed KHTML that turned into WebKit. WebKit is the most closed source project ever. Google couldn’t even get their hands on it for Chrome.

Street view is totally useful for locating a specific building you’re headed to before actually getting there. The latest Google Navigation also switches to Street View once you get to your location. With that said, Google doesn’t update it nearly enough in some areas. Businesses can change a lot within two years.

iOS Maps is extremely dated as it stands. Moving from Galaxy Nexus to an iPhone 4S I’ve been yearning for the free, reliable, Google Navigation. It doesn’t have street view as it stands though it has alternate routes and traffic.
