It isn’t remotely comparable. In the Uber case, owners of the cars themselves moonlight as taxi drivers. In this case, tenants temporarily sub-lease property they don’t own, to random strangers in exchange for money and exposes their landlord to a boatload of liability issues (as seen in this case where the landlord had to pay up just because some dude got it into his head that he was entitled to rent out something he didn’t own).

Taxing on revenue would be quite foolish since some companies’ margins aren’t as large as you think and it would only serve to drive up costs to the end consumer to offset the lowered margins as result of taxation on revenue, instead of profit.

If you put it that way, it’s baffling why this article (and the research it’s based on) is even in the news. 20% increase in a total of less than 20 total deaths by 2020 is so insignificant, you’d have to question whether the research grant being used for this was worth it or whether it was just a waste of public money researching trivial things again.
