I’m from the UK unfortunately! There are 6 apps for Passbook in total in the UK, only 2 of them are actually for the UK.

One is an app specifically for London, on the other side of the country. Another for Starbucks, and I hate coffee. Haha! :)

What you’re forgetting is that Apple aren’t selling phones or tablets, they’re selling iOS. Yes a lot of their profit comes from the hardware, but they’re also selling you their Ecosystem. And if they think they can provide a great experience on a smaller (NOT BUDGET, they will never use that word) device. Then why not?! It means more people on iOS, more people using iTunes, App Store, iBooks etc.

Um iMessage isn’t an app. It’s integrated into messages so that if the user has an iPhone it sends as an iMessage and if they don’t it sends as a normal message. This doesn’t require the user to do a whole lot of anything, it also doesn’t require them to add an extra app into their daily work flow. It means one less account, one less username/password etc…

It’s a seamless experience, You probably know this already, but I just wanted to point out that it has clear benefits.
