The quality of comments on The Verge has really taken a nosedive in the last few months, and this comment thread is a perfect example of that. It used to be that half the time I would read the article just so I can enjoy the intelligent and witty discussion in the comments. These days I mostly avoid them because they’re filled with bitterness, fanboyism, insults and just plain stupidity.

If you’re in a tense shootout, or just excited because the action is exhilarating, or maybe you’re a bit on the edge because it’s a good horror game, you’re level perspiration will increase. You yourself may not feel the change but a sensor would. And btw, if they’re smart (and I’ve no reason to think Valve aren’t smart) they’re not tracking your absolute level of perspiration – that would be useless since some people perspire more than others, but rather the relative level. That way, even on a particularly hot day they’ll be able to tell you’re getting more excited and adjust the game accordingly.

I thought the way they handled Mandarin was great. Yeah it was completely different from comic books but I’m all for directors taking liberties with their interpretation of the characters as long as they: A) make the character great and B) stay consistent to the universe they created. And within this “alternate” Iron Man universe, which aims to somewhat reflect our own 2012-2013 reality, as oppose to the 80’s-90’s reality of the original comics, this new Mandarin was perfect – just think about it.
My only real issue with the movie was that the powers of bad guys smacked a bit too much of magic – there was even a moment where I was like “oh I’m sorry, is this the hobbit or something”. Anyway, it’s just a minor quibble and at the end and I still loved the movie.

“Also Tony Stark giving out his home address was the dumbest thing ever. WTF did he think was going to happen.”
That was the whole fricking point – his cockiness, his hubris, completely clouding his judgement and rational thought, and as a result he did something monumentally stupid. If you thought that was the dumbest thing ever then the movie accomplished what it set out to do with that scene.

Even if they can catch up with discrete graphics cards any time soon, I’m glad to see them keep improving their chips. Thing that I don’t get is why are they bothering with putting the integrated graphics on deskto chips at all. Unless I missed something, as far as I know, integrated chips still can’t cooperate with discrete cards and even if they’re good enough to drive desktop, the cards don’t turn off completely – so in short they’re totally useless on a system with a discrete card. These days seems to me if you’re looking for a computer for light work you’re gonna get a laptop, and if you’re buying a desktop you’re doing it specifically to get a powerful system with a discrete card so they could save some money on manufacturing and pass those savings on to customers.

It doesn’t even matter it should get that TLD by freaking default – seeing how it’s been around for thousands of years. I mean really, this should be a no-brainer for ICANN.

That would’ve been a legitimate criticism if the IR transmitter weren’t an actually useful feature, which it is. Maybe not for everyone, but unless it’s somehow hurts your experience, and I don’t see how it does, I don’t see any reason to complain about it.
