Half true. The fact is, there are enough applications & software out there that we could all get by without SMS just fine.

Camera superiority has it though, not worth the extra $300 though.
I can’t understand why this phone is $650 while the Nexus 4 is $350.
Wouldn’t removing all of the proprietary unique/special Galaxy S4 software capability, like the multicamera and stuff.. drive down the price? Isn’t that the bit that makes these premium devices expensive?

T-Mobile hasn’t done away with contracts, that’s just what they want you to believe.
You’re actually paying them more over a period of 24 months if you do their financing. You have always had the option of buying the device outright. So when you think about it logically, nothing has changed. It sounds really good for their whole “uncarrier” thing though.

Have you heard of this thing, where young people who don’t have an excellent job, or lots of extra money laying around, can’t get consumer credit anywhere? It’s kind of a thing.

Agreed, but that said this is a little extreme. Of course, I’ve never been to/lived in China so I don’t know or understand culture or anything about daily life in the country itself.

McDonalds, pretty much every service/gas station, some starbucks had NFC payment fobs up by the checkout.
It wasn’t just one place, the Visa PayWave standard was out there a year before Google Wallet was even a thing. So those little NFC boxes that sit on top of the Debit/Credit POS machines are pretty common, even in the rural area where I live.

It’s not that it ever needed carrier support, it just needed the carriers to get the %@#$ out of the way, allowing users to actually use the software instead of blocking it. Since I’m certain it will work on just about any device with Android 4.x and NFC.

LiveFree-OrDie is right though.. this is big hotel biz pushing down on the little guy.
It’s no different than the Taxi mafia going after Uber and the like. They’re trying to protect their business because someone has found a way to make money, stabilize their lives and have a secondary or maybe even primary income without having to shell out money for licenses/qualifications/etc.

When you look at the balance of it, sort’ve yeah. I mean, sure education, public safety, roads/highways, it all goes there too. If more of it went to those things than into the pockets of politicians with 3 or 4 houses, expensive cars, lavish “business” expenses.. then I probably wouldn’t mind being milked for additional cost on online purchases. However, I know this isn’t the case.. you’ll see that the difference this will make for the betterment of quality of life will be nil.
