So you’ll have to buy a new battery for every phone you get, and it’ll cost more, not be flexible in terms of capacity or shape/size – and you think that’s a better solution.
Oh and also it restricts which phones you can get. Sounds awesome.

That external cylindrical battery has a volume of 130.8 cubic centimeters
No, it doesn’t. The radius is 1.1 CM.
Pi * r^2 = 3.8 sq cm
Multiplied by the length (8.6) gives 32.7 cubic cm.
As for your rant about my thickness quote, please get it next time. If an object is a different shape, you can’t compare size by looking only at one dimension. The width, for example, is significantly less in the cylinder.

Then you missed the point. As I’ve already said (in 2 other posts, now), I can WANT 100,000,000,000 GB of storage, it does NOT mean that I require that amount of storage in order to listen to music. And that’s what we’re talking about.

Recompressing the music is irrelevant (6th time). Even if we took every song as 320kbps – my point would still stand that you don’t need more than 24GB of storage unless you’re away for a long time.
Your points about compression are therefore not relevant. Please understand this.
Moving the 32GB takes a longer time than moving to phone storage.

Moving music onto a phone can be done whilst charging.
Moving 32GB onto a SD card takes far, far longer.
5th time lucky – my point stands regardless of music quality.

Does that really need to be explained to you?
That a rounded edge is more comfortable than a square edge?
Jeez.
And before you attempt to derail this discussion (I can understand why), I will repeat:
Either way, comfort in the pocket is subjective and not something worth either of us attempting to prove either way.

Yeah, and a cylinder is SO much more comfortable in a pocket than a small flat rectangle. That’s why wallets and phones are all cylindrical.
Is it also why most mobile devices have slightly rounded edges? As do wallets?
Either way, comfort in the pocket is subjective and not something worth either of us attempting to prove either way.
Also, both wallets and phones are shaped the way they are predominantly for functionality reasons, not solely for comfort.

What a wasteful, time-consuming “solution.”
Oh you mean like moving 32GB of content onto an SD card?
My music is high bit rate because my speakers at home are high quality. Your solution of low bit rate music for a phone requires recompressing all of the files
It’s already been explained to you (lets not make it necessary for me to explain a third time) that even if you doubled the bit rate – my point stands.
There are better audio players than the default player that easily handle music stored in more than one folder. They’ll keep track of music stored on the phone and also in a Micro SD card.
Then either you a) Don’t have control over which track goes where, in which case it’s disadvantageous, or you b) Do have control in which case it consumes more time, which is disadvantageous.

Yes I selectively quoted the wrong part.

Yes because you disproved my 70gm example because apparently the 70gm is heavier than 73.

But I’m not buying replacement batteries for 4 or 5 phones, nor tablets. I’m just buying one.
So you’ll never buy another phone, or any tablet, or any mobile device which needs charging?
deliberately ignoring my whole response is editing.
Can’t even find the words to mock this strongly enough for unbelievable lack of any basis in any known form of logic.

The thickness of the cylinder CAN be compared by putting it in a pants pocket or jacket pocket
No, it can’t. A cylindrical shape does NOT consume the same volume as a cube.
For users who want a battery that holds as much energy as the original and is as thin, you have failed to show any examples
The example we’re talking about right now is an example. It’s not only got more capacity, it’s also thinner (much thinner), and can be gotten cheaper. What’s more, it’ll charge multiple devices so it’ll save you another 4 or 5x the cost.
And claiming that I’ve done something to try and make your own argument, as weak as it gets.

Providing a link to a page full of random chargers does not prove your point.
Claiming that all 488 of my examples are thicker does not prove your point.

Er, you can use it for 4 or 5 phones, or tablets?
God you’re slow.
And are you now seriously claiming I’m editing YOUR words?

Right so you pointed out that my example was lighter for no reason? LOL
Embarrasing back tracking. It’s 8cm long but it’s also only 22mm wide – and that width isn’t even a full width, it’s a cylindrical cross section diameter.
And I haven’t ‘selectively’ edited anything – weakest possible argument yet?
Comment
Er, I haven’t said that I can’t find any the same power in the same size. I’ve illustrated to you that not ONLY can you find ones which are the same size (and cheaper), you can also find smaller, and larger, in varying degrees of capacity.
I am sorry for you that that point escaped you. Not only that, these devices work for multiple phones, so work out cheaper.
Using an external charger does indeed mean it’s plugged in (not making it more heavy or bulky, at all – a cable doesn’t do that) – but it also doesn’t require turning the phone off, which is essential if you’re on a long conference call, for example. Nor does a cable do any damage to the port on the phone.

monster size power packs
Well in a world in which you believe 70gm is more than 2.6oz, yes it’s a monster. In the real world, however….
And the replacement batteries are not only more expensive in absolute terms, they also can’t be re-used for your future phones. So you can multiply their cost by a factor of 4 or 5.
Oh, and spare batteries are not immediate. You have to turn the phone off. Portable chargers, on the other hand, are.

You claimed that portable chargers were both as light, small and convenient as a battery. You failed to present a single example that proves it and now you want to change the argument.
I claimed they were the same size and weight. Lets not let you distort my precise comments.
I’ve provided you with 490 examples, many of which are both as light and as small as a replacement battery whilst containing the same capacity and being cheaper. I additionally provided you with hundreds which are slightly larger but let you charge more than once, to illustrate the freedom of choice you have.
Your response? ‘Link 1 weighs 70gm’ – it’s like you were completely oblivious to the fact that that is less than the weight of 2.6oz YOU provided.
Fail.

Link 1 is longer but more narrow. The thickness cannot be compared because it isn’t a square cross section, it’s cylndrical.
Link 2 is another example which contains more storage, so gives better battery life than a replacement battery.
Link 3 has 488 examples so I don’t think you should really make the claims either about having to plug in directly to the phone or that they aren’t thinner.
All of the above work on any mobile phone, many let you recharge numerous times (with many devices) and you have a great range of sizes and shapes to suit what you need.
Oh, and unlike replacement batteries, they don’t require cases. Oh, and they’re cheaper.

I showed numerous examples of cheaper, thinner, and lighter devices. None of which require a case to carry (unlike a spare battery), and I also pointed out that on top of all of the above, they work for multiple phones, so are functionally superior. Oh, and regarding immediacy, they let you carry on immediately. Unlike replacement batteries for which you have to turn off the phone.
Did you just miss it all? It’s like talking to a clueless wall.
Or do you still think that 70gm is heavier than 73?
Bless.

What are the dimensions and weight of a portable charger?
Another great point – portable chargers can be any size or shape, depending on where you want to keep them. You can get some smaller than replacement batteries, some a little larger with many times more storage – that’s another plus point.
Needless to say there are numerous which are not significantly more bulky than a replacement battery which offer equivalent capacity.

Even if you halved the music time (and you do NOT need 256kb for mobile phone headphones), the point stands.
Sorry but syncing half my music to an SD card and half to a phone sounds like more work to me than randomising a playlist which is 16gb large.

2.6 oz is 73 gm.
It’s long but it’s also thin.
Link 2 has more storage.
Link 3 hasn’t been addressed, and contains many options, most of which are cheaper, have more storage and/or are thinner.

Philosophically, swappability, especially of battery, elevates the human over the device. Fixed, one-day battery makes the human the servant of the device.
Don’t be ridiculous. How does it ‘elevate’ a human ‘over the device’ if the human has to be the camel who carries around all of its spare parts (the spare battery) and is forced to ‘repair’ the device whenever the device demands it. I mean that philosophical approach is ridiculous anyway, but it’s fundamentally wrong too.
Also, even if it were true, portable chargers achieve exactly the same end result without requiring a removable battery.
His 128 GB comment was including SD cards.
