I upgraded from the Rebel XS to the 60D. Definitely a great upgrade and I’d still get the 60D over even the newer T5i Rebel series. The feel is better and the controls are better. I upgraded for the same reasons as well.

I would go this route as well. the glass is more important than the body.

I agree that the WB should have been adjusted a bit. maybe a longer shutter speed as well to bring some detail/light into the face.
