This is actually a good thing…. html5 isn’t widespread enough to completely cut flash out so they got adobe to give them the source code so they could directly integrate it (so should have no security and performance issues).

I think it will look much better once you see the live tile working…. right now its just a big box showing nothing but as we have seen from some of the other apps text anc pictures are scrolling quite a bit on other live tiles….. would assume these new apps will heavily use the live tiles as well.

This is what I expect to happen…. dropbox and google will release apps just like skydrive and will work in exactly the same manner as skydrive does.

I will be interested to see exactly what the new service will be…. cautiously optimistic with xbox taking over because xbox actually has a brand name that people will recognize.

WinRT is being designed as the ipad competitor….. always was.

That said I do agree they are making a mistake of even keeping classic mode there. They really should just make winRT metro only. The whole idea of windows 8 is to get all apps eventually on the store. They will eventually get there and these tablets will look much stronger when they do (windows 9).

At this point ms should just straight up buy nokia and not let anybody else make windows phones…. who in their right mind would want a non nokia windows phone now but they will still sell and those users will not have the full app catalog and be mad that windows phone “doesn’t have apps” when in reality it will just not on their phone…. really kinda funny that this is windows phone’s version of fragmentation.

I really don’t expect much change other than all the little bugs being fixed…. I do think the apps will get significant improvement though. The question will be how much do things improve with the next release in june compared to final towards the end of the year.

I am also curious to see if more apps are in the marketplace with the next milestone…. things like netflix, hbogo, skype, xbox games, etc.

They already had most of the pre-avengers movies…. just a shame their quality was well below the other streaming apps on xbox. I still used it to rewatch thor and captain america before the avengers.

And I will say that skydrive webapps do need to improve but I know they will over time…. we really are still in the first version of the skydrive webapps.

The question will be does skydrive webapps improve or gdocs add full office doc compatibility first.

You can… just very basic editing.

To me having full office compatibility outweighs any online feature advantage google drive has…. once you get screwed over by the gdocs conversion process and have to spend an hour recreating the office doc to get your formatting back you will not look as kindly on google docs.

That would be my next phone….

They will use their streaming apps….. they already exist (fios tv has a live streaming app and comcast has their on demand). Eventually both will have both the live tv and on demand for all cable providers and they will stream over the internal cable network…. not that dissimilar from how cable tv works just using iptv and not cable.

Could be a very smart way to do console purchases if they come bundled from cable companies (with their streaming app)…. that monthly price is the same it would cost for a dvr from them. I could see xbox’s being sold as replacements for the cable box directly from the cable company.

I actually think they might go larger with the nook…. make one specifically designed for college textbooks which would mean a larger screen than even the ipad.
