Most of the DA* lenses are weather sealed. Used to be great deals at about $700 for the 16-50 & 50-135 f/2.8. A bit pricier now…

Are you shooting aperture priority or full automatic (P or Green)?

If it’s dark, you need a wider aperture to let in enough light. With a wide open 1.4 lens, you will have a fairly shallow depth of field. During the day, I’m guessing you’re shooting at f/8 or higher, so much more depth of field.

If you want more DOF, shoot Av mode, with a high ISO and longer shutter. Or use a flash (point it at the ceiling or a wall, not the subject).

As the person that started the monthly trend (it was open ended earlier), I second the weekly suggestion. Or just number them, and once you reach 100 posts start a new thread.

For critique, I’m active on The Icebox on Flickr… it’s more a game than serious critique. The plus side is the better photographers hang around b/c it’s fun.
